This Course provides an in-depth exploration of how Blockchain technology transforms health records management through decentralization, transparency, and security. Learners will examine the technical architecture of Blockchain, understand smart contracts, and assess Blockchain’s role in enhancing data integrity, patient control, and interoperability across healthcare systems. The Course also highlights real-world implementations of Blockchain in patient data management, clinical trials, and pharmaceutical supply chains—alongside the barriers and future trends influencing adoption in the healthcare industry
Explain the concept of Blockchain-based health records. Examine the technical architecture of Blockchain in healthcare. Discuss how Blockchain supports data integrity and patient control. Identify barriers to Blockchain adoption in health organizations. Review real-world implementations of Blockchain in healthcare.
Explain how Blockchain principles (immutability, decentralization, transparency) apply to healthcare records, improving data sharing and patient consent management. Analyze Blockchain architecture, including consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, and interoperability models that enable secure and scalable healthcare data systems. Evaluate how Blockchain ensures data integrity, enhances patient control, and maintains auditability while complying with privacy laws. Identify and examine technological, financial, legal, and organizational barriers that hinder Blockchain adoption. Evaluate and synthesize findings from case studies (e.g., clinical trials, consent management, supply chains) to design recommendations for future Blockchain applications in healthcare
Completion of Unit 4.1: Introduction to Blockchain in Healthcare is recommended. Basic understanding of health information systems, EHR workflows, and digital health governance. General familiarity with data privacy and compliance frameworks (HIPAA/GDPR).
